This little old brownie has been crossing forests for so many years that he now prefers to move on his knees, close to the ground, because he says that’s where you hear the roots whisper best. His grey hair looks like old moss, and the red mushroom he carries on his back is almost bigger than he is, yet he doesn’t complain. He insists every slow step is a new story sticking itself to his feet.
When no one’s looking, he sits down to rest on warm stones and gets utterly mesmerized watching ants build impossible things. He’s obsessed with the shine of resin on the pines and the smell of wet earth after rain. If you catch him off guard, you might hear him grumbling about human alarm clocks and insisting cobblestone streets are far more authentic.
- He lives almost entirely on bread with olive oil and little “test” bites of mushroom.
- He murmurs “sorry” every time he brushes a door, a chair leg, or a flowerpot.
- He says dew-draped cobwebs are the tapestries of real artists.
- He finds his way by following the imaginary sound of horse hooves on ancient cobblestones.
He doesn’t guard anything epic or lead great battles, he simply accompanies. He stays close when your head feels heavy, reminding you with his quiet presence that life is also about walking slowly, bending your back a little, and keeping on… even if the mushroom feels too big for your day.
