We are a bunch of brownies with a mission: looking after everyday joy. We live in people's homes as handmade companions from Taramundi and, on top of that, we look after this website: the good vibes collection, where people bring jokes, stories and the words of their own patch, recorded in their own voice.

You do not have to buy anything to be here. Listen, read, have a laugh and, if you feel like it, bring something of yours. If you want to get what this is really about, read the manifesto.

Carmen, who sculpts every creature in her workshop in Taramundi, and her son Álvaro, who handles the digital side. And behind every joke, story or expression there is a real person: no machine voices here.

The twelve energies that make up each Magikito's character: love, loyalty, fortune, protection, calm, joy, creativity, wisdom, adventure, nature, home and dreams. Every creature carries its own mix.

They say you do not pick the Magikito, the Magikito picks you. Have a nose around the 12 Sparks.

Brownies and treasures. The brownies are the creatures: cold porcelain, a face like they have just been up to something, and desk or shelf size. The treasures are the other little things that come out of the workshop, small bits to have around the house. And there is only one of each, so once somebody takes one home, it is gone for good.

Straight from your browser, nothing to install. A joke is press and tell it: your voice and that is it. A story is recorded the same way and you can add effects too. We clean the sound, level it and, on stories, add the background music and the illustration. It stays with your Magikito name and the voice stays public.

Easier than opening a yoghurt. In the Slangtionary you go to Contribute, write the expression and tell us about it in your own voice: what it means, an example, where it is from. A guardian Magikito checks it and, if it stacks up, publishes it with your name. You can also improve one that is already there.

Every expression in the dictionary has a Magikito looking after it. If something does not stack up, hit a challenge on its entry, say "That is not what it means", and tell it. It checks, changes whatever needs changing and answers back with its usual cheek. Mind you: the cheek goes at the Magikito, never at whoever recorded.

At the end of every joke, story or expression you can give it one to five mushrooms. It is anonymous, you do not need an account and you can change your mind. The mushrooms feed the ranking of the coolest of the month.

Well, being the proper Magikitos we are, we measure everything in setines, which work both for measuring the absolutely relative magnitude of things and for reputation around here. You earn them by bringing stuff in: an expression, a voice, a joke, a story, a vote on the Shroometer or making the ranking of the month. They cannot be cashed in for anything, there are no discounts and no prizes: they are the sign that you have brought good vibes, and they show up on your profile.

To listen, read and vote, no. To contribute, no either: we hand you a Magikito identity on the spot. If you want your stuff to stay with you and show up on your profile, come in with your email or with Google at Log in. No passwords: we send a 6-digit code to your email.

We keep the bare minimum: your email or your phone so we recognise you, and whatever you publish. We do not use tracking cookies or advertising, which is why there is no banner to close. You can delete your account from your settings in one click, and whatever you published stays without your name on it. It is all spelled out in the privacy policy.

You do not buy here, you adopt. Every Magikito is one of a kind, handmade and without moulds, so when somebody adopts one it disappears from the shop for good. One eye slightly bigger, a crooked smile: that is exactly what gives it a soul.

The shop has every brownie and treasure available at this moment, with their real photos. What you see is what there is: once one is adopted, off it goes.

You can, in the only place in the world where they physically live: Taramundi, in Asturias. Right in the middle of the village, next to the town hall, is the Telar de Susana, where Carmen leaves her creatures.

Cold porcelain and a lot of love. Inside there is a wire frame, recycled paper and wadding. Then they get dressed in scraps of fabric I collect as I go along, and I add all sorts of little bits and pieces I pick up here and there. And nearly all of them carry pieces of the forest: twigs, small stones, moss and leaves from walks.

With our hands and with our hearts. Carmen sculpts, paints and dresses every one without templates, which is why no two are the same. The Taramundi legends say a Magikito is born when somebody in the world needs a bit of good energy.

As things stand we do not take custom orders. Every Magikito is born the way Carmen imagines it and then finds whoever adopts it. If none of them quite resonates with you, come back in a few days: new ones keep arriving.
