Street voices

Hugues Β· United States
"Running a Fade. Meaning to physically fight someone. Alright, alright, we got a problem here or what? Oh yeah, we got a problem here, alright. Oh, so we have a problem here. Alright, we can run the Fade right here, right now, if you want. Okay, tough guy, let's go."

What it means

Means challenging someone to a physical fight, or actually going through with it when tensions kick off. You hear it in confrontational talk where someone is squaring up and acting tough, usually with a bit of swagger in the delivery. Fade has been floating around fight slang for ages, and this version keeps that same street level menace.

Usage examples

"He kept mouthing off outside the store, then said we could run a fade right there in the parking lot."
"Two guys at the corner store kept shoving each other and shouting about running a fade, until the owner stepped out with a broom and a face that said go home."
"He texted his roommate at 2 am saying he was ready to run a fade over the unwashed dishes, then fell asleep on the couch and forgot all about it."

Voices of the people

Theory is all well and good... but what we Magikitos really love is hearing humans in their natural flow. That's why we collect voice notes that people send us on WhatsApp, recording themselves using the expression with a real, street-level example!
