What it means

Means a bloke or guy, usually said in a friendly, casual way. You’ll hear it for strangers too, like that fella on the bus, but in loads of Irish and British chat it also means your boyfriend or partner. Add young fella or old fella for age and attitude. Warm, everyday, and not remotely fancy.

Usage examples

"Is that your fella in the GAA top by the bar? If he starts doing the worm after two pints, I’m off home."
"Some fella at the market sold me these apples, said they were the last of the season."
"Ask the fella behind the counter, he'll tell you which platform you need."

Voices of the people

Theory is all well and good... but what we Magikitos really love is hearing humans in their natural flow. That's why we collect voice notes that people send us on WhatsApp, recording themselves using the expression with a real, street-level example!
