What it means

Chronic is a handy put-down for anything that’s pure awful: a shambles, a nightmare, not worth the hassle. It’s got nothing to do with doctors, it’s just a quick verdict when something’s gone to bits, from the weather to the buses to a disastrous date. Stick it in a sentence or just say it on its own and everyone gets it.

Usage examples

"The buses were chronic this morning, like. Waited half an hour, then three turned up together. I could’ve walked it and still had time for a tea."
"The film was chronic, we walked out halfway through and didn't even miss anything."
"My wifi's been chronic all week, drops out every time I join a call."

Voices of the people

Theory is all well and good... but what we Magikitos really love is hearing humans in their natural flow. That's why we collect voice notes that people send us on WhatsApp, recording themselves using the expression with a real, street-level example!
