What it means
Properly drunk, not just a couple of pints in, but gone wobbly and sentimental. If someone’s cut, the drink’s driving and they’re singing, hugging, roaring, and making grand declarations they won’t stand over tomorrow. Works as a quick label after a heavy session, often with a bit of affectionate judgement.
Usage examples
"He was cut at the wedding, roaring The Fields of Athenry, hugging strangers, then firing off 2am texts like a poet on a session."
"By the third round of the stag do, half the lads were proper cut and singing to the taxi rank."
"She was so cut after the wedding that she tried to thank the cardboard cutout for coming."
