What it means
A doomer is someone sunk in gloom and convinced everything is heading for disaster, the climate, the economy, their own future, so why even bother trying. It is pessimism worn almost like an identity.

Where it comes from
Doomer comes from doom plus the person-ending -er. It took off online in the late 2010s, especially through meme culture, where the doomer got framed as the bleak, black-pilled counterpart to the hopeful bloomer. Since then it’s spread way beyond memes into everyday internet slang.
