Street voices
"Purr is basically another, you know, term of encouragement or to like hype a person up, similar to slay in a way. An example would be, girl, I love that set you got on. Purr."
What it means
A punchy little hype word you drop when someone looks unreal, nails something, or says exactly what needed saying. It lives in the same glam family as slay, but with a softer catwalk pounce to it. Very online, very pop culture, very I see you and you ate that. Tiny sound, loads of attitude.
Usage examples
"Girl, that matching set is doing all the talking and your hair is sitting perfect, purr, you came outside to collect compliments and taxes."
"She walked in with the new haircut and the tailored coat, and her best friend just whispered purr from across the room."
Where it comes from
From the contented rumble of a happy cat, lifted by drag and ballroom culture into a sound of pure approval. Online it became the soft cousin of slay, a hum that says you nailed it.
