What it means

A classic Aussie adjective for something excellent, top-notch, the full bottle. You’ll spot it in early 1900s yarns and old papers, and these days it’s mostly said with a wink, like you’re putting on a grandad voice. Handy when you’re chuffed and want to big something up without dropping the F-bomb. Not super common now, but still understood.

Usage examples

"Fishing trip was bonzer, mate, till Gazza punted the esky overboard. Still, we snagged a ripper barra and scoffed servo pies after."
"What a bonzer day for the beach, mate, not a cloud in the sky and the surf's pumping."
"She did a bonzer job fixing the ute, runs smoother now than the day I bought it."

Voices of the people

Theory is all well and good... but what we Magikitos really love is hearing humans in their natural flow. That's why we collect voice notes that people send us on WhatsApp, recording themselves using the expression with a real, street-level example!
