Street voices
"GG literally means good game, basically said maybe after, you know, a sports match that you have with someone else or could be an online game that you had, you just say good game. An example would be, alright guys, great match, good play, good game."
What it means
Short for good game, typed at the end of a match as a sporting sign-off, win or lose. It also turns sarcastic outside gaming: when something is hopelessly over, you just sigh gg. Equal parts good manners and resigned full-time whistle.
Usage examples
"We got demolished but I still typed gg, no need to be a sore loser."
"Phone died at one percent right before the photo, gg."
Where it comes from
An initialism of good game, born in competitive gaming as the customary handshake in the chat once the match ends.
