"period basically it's just full stop you know like the period at the end of sentence it's used in a range of ways also kind of used like in like facts in a way usually comes at the end of a statement so like you know let's say your friend's ranting to you about something and they're like yeah and I blocked him and then you're responsible like period an example could be so basically this is a girl you know going up to a friend like hey guys I just walked in the deal secured the bag and he paid five hundred thousand and then all her girlfriends would go like period"
What it means
Used to slam the door on a point and show there is nothing left to argue about. It means full stop, end of chat, facts are facts. You drop it after a statement to add emphasis, attitude, or a bit of sass. The variant periodt pops up online too, especially when the delivery is extra dramatic.
Usage examples
"Girl, you walked in, got the promotion, and made your ex stare into the void. Period, we are not reopening this conversation tonight."
Where it comes from
It comes from the ordinary word for the punctuation mark, where period means the sentence is finished. Black American speech and later online culture turned it into a punchy stand alone closer for emphasis, certainty, or attitude. The spelling periodt grew in queer internet and drag flavoured spaces, where the extra t makes the delivery hit harder.
