What it means

A gently rude way to say someone’s all elbows and thumbs, stomping about with no grace, like they’ve been tipped out of a potato sack. You’ll hear it as moves like a sack of spuds, usually about dancing, running, or trying to squeeze past people in a pub. Not proper nasty, just everyday British ribbing for someone with two left feet.

Usage examples

"He hit the dance floor at the wedding, clipped the cake stand, and Uncle Dave goes, Oi, look at him moving like a sack of spuds."
"Bless him, he dances like a sack of spuds, but he's out there every wedding having the time of his life."
"She tried to carry all the bags at once and went down the steps like a sack of spuds."

Voices of the people

Theory is all well and good... but what we Magikitos really love is hearing humans in their natural flow. That's why we collect voice notes that people send us on WhatsApp, recording themselves using the expression with a real, street-level example!
