What it means

Used to call something cheap-looking, tacky, or low-rent, like it cost bugger-all and it shows. You’ll hear it as two-bob outfit, two-bob job, two-bob anything when you’re giving something a light roast. It comes from old money, where two bob meant two shillings, so it’s basically saying it’s worth next to nothing.

Usage examples

"He rocked up in a two-bob suit from Vinnies and the bouncer clocked it straight away. Looked like it came free with a servo pie."
"The trophy looked dead two-bob, like a plastic cup someone sprayed gold the night before."
"It's a two-bob umbrella, one gust of wind and it turned inside out for good."

Voices of the people

Theory is all well and good... but what we Magikitos really love is hearing humans in their natural flow. That's why we collect voice notes that people send us on WhatsApp, recording themselves using the expression with a real, street-level example!
