Street voices

Haley Β· United States Just recorded
"Girl, you ate that up. You ate that performance up. Ate or ate that up, it means like you did something really well. You did a fantastic job. I'm American. I'm from the United States."

What it means

Means someone absolutely smashed it and made the whole thing look easy, whether that was a performance, outfit, speech, or comeback. It is pure praise with a bit of drama on top. You say it when a person did so well there is basically nothing left to criticise, just applause and maybe a tiny jealous stare from the side.

Usage examples

"Girl, you ate that presentation up, had the whole room nodding, the teacher smiling, and even the dude in the back stopped pretending he was not impressed."

Voices of the people

Theory is all well and good... but what we Magikitos really love is hearing humans in their natural flow. That's why we collect voice notes that people send us on WhatsApp, recording themselves using the expression with a real, street-level example!
