"Fumbling. Meaning to fail at something. Hey dude, I hear you've been seeing this cute girl on the low lately. How's that been going? Uh, I, uh, I fumbled her. I don't know what else to say. I just totally fumbled her."
What it means
Means blowing your shot, messing up an opportunity, or handling a situation so badly it slips right through your hands. People use it loads for flirting, dating, sports, or any moment where success was right there and you still managed to trip over your own vibe. It has that painful mix of regret and self roast, which is probably why it hits so hard.

"Bro, she was clearly into you and you still brought up your ex for ten minutes. You fumbled that so badly it should be studied."
"She gave him three openings to ask her out and he talked about his car insurance instead, an all-time great fumble."
Where it comes from
Straight from sport, where a player fumbles the ball and drops a sure thing. Off the field it became the word for muffing any chance that was yours to lose, especially in romance.
