What it means
Means totally wrecked or cooked, like something’s so damaged it’s basically cactus. People use it for busted gear, a trashed car, or even themselves after a hard game or a big night. If it’s munted, you’re not fixing it with a quick DIY job, it needs proper help or it’s headed for the bin.
Usage examples
"Bro, I tried to save the scooter with duct tape, but it’s munted as. Might have to chuck it and bus it home, eh."
"My bike is properly munted after that crash, the frame is bent in three places."
"Mate, I'm munted, I barely slept and I've been on my feet since six."
Where it comes from
From the British dialectal "munt" (a battered or destroyed object), reinforced in Antipodean usage by the resemblance to "mounted" in the sense of trampled. Surfaced in Australian and Kiwi surfing and rugby slang from the 1970s onward, and now applies to anything trashed: gear, vehicles, the speaker after a heavy night.
