"Blank thought they ate. The blank could be a name, a pronoun, or whatever. For example, he thought he ate, they thought they ate, she thought she ate, basically. Basically means when someone thinks they ate. Ate is what I described last time. When they think they looked good, or they, you know, tried to impress someone, but they just didn't. Or tried to accomplish something, but they didn't. So kind of like a fail. An example would be, oh, you're really wearing that outfit together? It looks horrible. You thought you ate."

What it means

Means someone thought they absolutely pulled it off, looked amazing, or made a big impression, but from the outside it was a miss and everyone can see it. It's a mocking little comeback built off ate, flipping praise on its head. You use it when confidence outruns reality and the room is not buying the performance.

Voices of the people

Theory is all well and good... but what we Magikitos really love is hearing humans in their natural flow. That's why we collect voice notes that people send us on WhatsApp, recording themselves using the expression with a real, street-level example!
