What it means

Used when someone keeps going on about something for ages, usually in a way that does your head in. If they’re banging on, they’re repeating the same point, story, or complaint like a stuck record. Often shows up as banging on about X. Not rude-rude, but it’s definitely the sound of your patience leaving the room.

Usage examples

"Dave's banging on about his keto diet again at the pub, and I'm sat there nodding like a mug, just waiting for the pint to land."
"He's been banging on about his new car all week, we know the colour, the price and the cup holders."
"Stop banging on about the diet and just enjoy the cake, it's somebody's birthday."

Voices of the people

Theory is all well and good... but what we Magikitos really love is hearing humans in their natural flow. That's why we collect voice notes that people send us on WhatsApp, recording themselves using the expression with a real, street-level example!
