"Getting laid out. Meaning getting completely knocked out. Hey, did you hear John picked a fight with Connor? Connor? You mean the guy built like a brick shithouse, that Connor? Yes, that Connor. What the hell happened? What do you think happened? John got completely laid out."

What it means

Means getting knocked flat or dropped hard, usually in a fight, but people also stretch it for any brutal takedown or public embarrassment. It paints a physical picture, like somebody got spread out on the floor and their bad decisions right beside them. Great for those moments when somebody wildly overestimates themselves and the universe answers immediately.

Usage examples

"John squared up with Connor outside the bar like he was in a movie, then got laid out so fast even the jukebox went quiet."
"He went in for a header, clashed with the keeper and ended up getting laid out on the pitch."
"One wrong step on the ice and I was getting laid out flat in front of everyone."

Voices of the people

Theory is all well and good... but what we Magikitos really love is hearing humans in their natural flow. That's why we collect voice notes that people send us on WhatsApp, recording themselves using the expression with a real, street-level example!
