Street voices
"Core memory is basically an event or something that happened that was just really memorable, something you won't forget, basically kind of like ingrained into your brain, ingrained into like the core of your brain, hence core memory. An example would be, oh my god, that hike at Niagara Falls was beautiful. I would never forget how everything looked, how, you know, the water just like fell down into like the waterfall. It was such a core memory."
What it means
Core memory means one of those moments that lodges itself deep in your brain and refuses to leave, usually because it was beautiful, hilarious or weirdly intense. Online people use it for standout experiences that feel permanently stamped into their inner scrapbook. Slightly dramatic, yes, but drama is half the fun of remembering anything properly.
Usage examples
"That midnight drive with the windows down and chips on the dashboard was such a core memory, we still talk about it constantly."
